I'll begin this introduction of myself with what it is I purchase for my own health and that of my family. I AM on that road towards healthy and clean living by way of introducing organic and as close to natural as I can get into my diet. I am doing my best in introducing new vegetables such as heirloom carrots. The variety of colors from deep purple to bright yellows and if you boil them, add some real unsalted butter and a little raw cocnut sugar and you got yourself a nice side dish.
I've begun walking on the trail of clean living a few years ago and I started with feminine products. I've used the mainstream pads but was in awe with the women who were au naturale with themselves and their surroundings. There are so many products to choose from when it comes to feminie hygiene and with plenty comes research as to WHAT is in these products for them to be so mainstream BUT the organic and or natural products are somewhat hidden in the lowest shelf at any local pharmacy or store. I've read tons of reviews on what to use and why and what not to use, obviously!
All natural, 100% cotton tampons, pads, panty liners and sponges...oh, and don't forget the cute cups heehee! I've searched on Amazon and various other sites and blogs as to natural products are out there and the reviews all proved positive on 100% cotton because it is nothing but cotton and no chemicals or toxins that your body will absord via your skin. Most mainstream products contain bleach and formeldhyde amongst other chemically enhanced ingredients. One must wonder why there is such a high rise in reproductive diseases such as cancer. With that in mind I tried my best to find a product suitable for me.
With my research I have found that with a burn test (burning mainstream pads vs. 100% cotton pads) 100% Cotton burned slow and easy leaving no sooty residue. Then there was the burn test for mainstream pads and well lets just say the smell was that of chemicals and toxic fumes. Our skin is the thinnest of our organs and the most important to keep healthy. Outside of skin diseases using feminine napkins shouldn't be one of our stressors. I do plenty of research on products for myself and my family and always wondered why would anyone want chemicals on their private parts even if it was to keep us feeling as dry as possible during our time of the month.
I I have been using the Organyc brand for a couple of months now and I have NO COMPLAINTS. They work the same as any other feminine products. Nothing different other than the only ingredient within the inner workings that make up menstrual pads is nothing other than plain 100% cotton. We as women have searched far and wide for the most daintiest of products to use to relieve us of the unbearing stare of a mishap or to notice that your pads didn't work as it was supposed to. The ALL natural world seems to scare some women away because some may think all natural just means strips of cotton pinned to our panties and pray that we have no overage or spilling. Some like to think that all natural products are for certain women and I must admit I was one of those women who thought everything else oher than let me try it at least once.
There are brands other than Organyc that are out there for anyone else curious as to what to try out first. There is Natracare, Seventh Generation, Laziauntie Organic Cotton reusable pads, Cantina Love Natural, Willow Pads, Emerita and GladRags.
I hope to have raised some curiousity and alleviate some stresses when it comes to choosing what is best for ourselves.
